Masai Mara, in the beginning of the rains.
A last minute game drive on the way to to catch a charter home led us to the banks of the Talek River. This was in spate, having been very low for a while. Six lionesses were sitting on the opposite bank of the river with wet feet, which as we know, is not a cat's, let alone a lion's, favourite feeling!
It would seem the ladies got left on the wrong side of the river and needed to get back, so after a lot of discussion amongst themselves, they eventually decided they had to cross.
Having crossed successfully they slunk off quickly before we could photograph them in such an undignified state.
